Which clothes flatter your shape ?
Whats the best / worst item of clothing for flattering your natural body shape ? I have to buy carefully as at a petite 5'2" some things do not look good on me. I have to wear fitted / tailored as many of the looser fitting styles just make me look shorter. I find wearing single block colours and then adding accessories in other colours works well for me. Dresses that stop at the knee seems to work well with heels and either bootleg or "skinny" jeans for casual wear

Closer fitting clothing, not tight, but just less ease. A line skirt types for my bottom half. Tops that give the illusion that something is there, but still keep me covered. I'm between 5'5 and 5'6 so I can get away with different hem lines depending on the style. My husband prefers that I pick styles that are more feminine. I usually dress conservative, if I go for trendy, which I am experimenting with, it takes awhile for my husband to come around.

Why not try a few "this season" accessories when experimenting with "trendy". I find alot of this season styles dont suit me as many are floaty, oversized etc. I prefer to pick a pattern/ colour thats on trend and wear it as an accessory eg scarf, jewelry etc. I wear alot of vintage clothing so love to mix and match to acheive an individual look

Horizontal stripes are not good on petite frames so i rarely wear them, except maybe on a tee shirt .Vertical stripes are good for adding the illusion of more height

There are babes on this forum? Gees, I didn't know that. Anyhow, my two-cents: as a rule of thumb, always wear tight, clingy stuff so it will show off other stuff.
You're welcome.

How funny. My husband lurked on this board yesterday. He likes to see where I go, and it's fun that we can discuss things together. My husband is off this week and we are doing lots of errands, paperwork that has to be done for next year. With 4 boys, I'm cooking, washing, etc. It seems the ladies board has been quiet. With all the sales, I would think they would get out and shop. I got fabric instead of clothing. Designer wools. I'm also taking a sewing class on techniques. Lots of homework. My husband likes more fitted clothing also. Must be a guy thing.

Hello, ladies. I just wanted to stop by and see what you guys are up to. I have a feeling that if you've posted this question on the men's section... you would have gotten plenty of responses (not that it would help)...

I'm going to have to play around with them for awhile before I decide. I went a little out of my comfort level, and 2 are Harris Tweeds, 1 tweed is lambswool, the other pure wool. I got 2 plaids, 1 half wool and silk, and the other all wool. I usually just get neutral solid colors. The rest are just that, solid colors.

Sure, but it may not happen until next season. Every time I go for inspiration to an online fashion source, I tend to choose spring over fall. I've been working on a jacket but I'm taking a short break from it. I broke my sleeve board.
I've gotten a chance to wear some brown suede boots I bought last year on sale, and I love them. I see more boots in my future.
It was a very warm day today. Is it getting cold in London? I have an online sewing friend who makes a new coat every year. This year was a buttery wool cape coat. I may follow her lead and do the same. I've been wanting a classic camel coat for several years now, but can't find a one in the stores around here.

Not really cold at all. The temps, average in the high 70's, but feels closer to 80's. There's more rain this year. A TV newsman said London has come to us here in North Texas. I don't even blow dry yet, just brush a lot to keep my hair from going flat. I usually start the day in tights and flats if I have a dress or skirt on and I'm pulling them off after lunch. Thanksgiving is about 2 weeks from now. It may get colder then.

My hair goes frizzy. I told my husband I want to cut it chin length, and he told me to get some hair stuff that counteracts that. My husband said it was the el nino current. This year would be wetter than usual, which is good in a way. Less ice on the road. My oldest graduates next month from college, and I won't have to drive him back and forth any more.
But we may not be able to have a fire in the fireplace if it's too warm. And I love a nice fire with the Christmas tree lights on.

Mmm yes i use product on my hair to counteract moisture, it works until it starts raining then i have had it ! Im thinking of going curly again for the winter, less work and it will give my hair a rest from the straighteners for a while

I've already started my shopping, but I like to have Christmas's that help my family look forward to the next Christmas. After the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, the Kennel Club Dog Show, and Miracle on 34th street, (all TV shows shown every year in the same order), I try to schedule TV, meals, free community events that help make some happy memories.
If it is warm this month, Neimann Marcus will take off the wrapping at the Dallas flagship store with their Christmas window. I think it would be fun to take the kids downtown instead of the Galleria, an indoor mall. Happens on November 20th.
