Default A Bespoke Prince of Wales Flannel

Some time back, members of this Forum discussed the idea of having a special fabric woven -- a Prince of Wales check flannel with a distinctive overcheck. It was an interesting idea. The Prince of Wales plaid -- as we generally regard it today -- is really a wonderful design, far more elegant and adaptable than many realize, and particularly handsome in heavier fabrics with some depth and texture to them. For a number of reasons this project did not come to fruition. But it did intrigue Michael Alden of the London Lounge. The London Lounge's cloth club has given rise to a number of very striking and original designs and this may well become one of its undertakings. Mr. Alden has begun working with the weavers to produce a 13-14 ounce flannel Prince of Wales plaid suiting -- a soft gray on gray with a pink and blue overcheck. Inasmuch as this idea began on this Forum, I thought it would be most appropriate to bring it to our members attention. You can read about the project here. If interested, please do not hesitate to contact Mr. Alden directly.

I followed the link. The photo looked very appealing. Unfortunately, I could rarely wear something that heavy here in LA.

I have had good results with lightweight fabric. Is there any interest in something with a comparable pattern but in a summer weight fabric?

Regards,
Gurdon
