    NYC MTM Shirt Recommendations

David Mercer could fill the bill. His shirts are a direct link to old Brooks offerings. He can alter his standard patterns somewhat.

    Borrelli shirt online retailers

Borelli shirts aren't the most durable. None of the Italian makers are. If you are after durability with a little bit of style, I think Mercer and made-in-the-US Brooks are at the top of the list.

    Brown Loafer Pick'em

The G&G's are a classic design also. They won't go out of style in ten or fifteen years. Loafer fit can be tricky. That should be the deciding factor.

Advice getting a job at my ideal menswear shop? I recently dropped out of school.

Perhaps this has now veered into an off-topic discussion. For those sceptical of what I have written, I offer the 1999 landmark study called SMILE (Standard Medical Intervention and Long-Term Exercise). It was conducted by James Blumenthal and colleagues at Duke University and compared the...

SG, it seems your ignorance is at a stratospheric level. Do just the tiniest bit of research before you continue to embarrass yourself. Are you a professor of psychiatry at a top medical school? Do you have any specific knowledge about psychiatry at all? You seem to imply that you are a...

SG, perhaps you should inform yourself before making remarks that are misguided. Recommending a book and encouraging aerobic exercise constitutes medical advice? Hmmmm.

It definitely will. Increased blood flow is a small (negligible) part of the story. Much more important are: neurogenesis, production of BDNF, regulation of neurotransmitters, etc. The book is full of very interesting, inspiring case histories of individuals who overcame psychiatric ills...

d s, I strongly, strongly recommend that you read the book Spark, The Revolutionary New Science of Exercise and the Brain. It is written by a Harvard Medical School professor of psychiatry named John Ratey. It easily is one of the most important books ever written because the science is so...

grooming What Self-Care lessons would you teach your son?

The single most important advice is regular, i.e. daily, aerobic exercise. The benefits are incredible: fitness, bodyweight management, mental health, and intelligence. Yes, intelligence. I highly recommend the book called Spark, The Revolutionary New Science of Exercise and the Brain. It...

Yes, there was a Fostmann Mills. It went bankrupt decades ago. I don't know anything about Victor Forstmann. The brothers went into finance. Ted was one of the first prominent private equity investors and dated Princess Diana, among other famous women. Tony remade a fortune on Wall Street.

Brooks Brothers use of “Makers and Merchants”?

In my observations, M & M appeared for the first time about 7 or 8 years ago- after the Italian owners took over. I first noticed it on the Brooks cashmere v- neck sweaters made in Scotland. I have read on here that the M & M label was used decades ago. I started shopping at Brooks as a young...

    BB “Makers and Merchants” labels

My direct experience at Brooks goes back to the middle 1970's. Makers simply meant that Brooks made the item- dress shirts, ties, and suits for example. It obviously also sold items it didn't make: I remember Lacoste shirts in particular. Most are familiar with the Alden shell shoes, now...

    BB “Makers and Merchants” labels

Definitely appeared under the current Italian owners. Circa 10 years ago? May have been used decades ago also, but if that is true, it was before the seventies.
