    War and Peace

Hello, I had enjoyed the works of many English speaking film directors for years back in the day (I don’t watch films often now though). Woody Allen, Stanley Kubrick, Roman Polanski, Peter Jackson, James Cameron were among them. I highly regarded Stanley Kubrick for his amazingly beautiful film...

    Non English Language Movies

Will be glad to hear back from you on Kon-Tiki once you watch it. As to the Golden Calf. Unfortunately, it seems to be close to impossible to find this film in English yet I post here the link to the original version in Russian hoping that Youtube/Google or some other web service is clever...

    Non English Language Movies

It depends on what you put into the words 'vivid' and 'sublime'. I'd say these are rather vague designations. Most of my favorite movies are from English speaking countries yet I must admit I watch some of these movies on purpose just because I'm interested in English language. I'm not...

    Suit + backpack

Yes. I have a couple of them at home and I took two of them in London. So we used them when it rained a couple of times during our holiday. The key shortcoming of such collapsible umbrellas is that they are pretty flimsy. Strong wind can ruin them in no time. Thank you! It was a great trip...

We avoid one controversy and yield another - a man wearing such a vest looks like a geek. :)

Lol No way. This vest looks ridiculous. :)

No. I just don't want to search for a shop everytime I feel a desire to drink. Say while walking in Kew Gardens I start to feel thirsty. Do I need to start searching for a place to buy a bottle of water? I don't think so. It is pretty unwise to spend my precious holiday time searching for a...

    Suit + backpack

Here is what I've seen in London: lots of men who wear suits with backpacks. Tons of them. You don't see such many men here in Moscow wearing this awkward combination. However, I wore my trench coat with my backpack only once when it was pretty cold in the morning. Most of the time the weather...

    The World Cup

I see a lot of fans from Mexico and Argentina here in Moscow these days. Sometimes I see fans from Brazil. I don't see any fans from England though. I'd like to get a ticket yet it is too expensive. So I'm not going to buy it anyway.

Gentlemen, please sorry for not answering all of your postings as I’m packing my bags right now. The flight is due tomorrow. I will get back to you later when my trip is over in two weeks. Do you know what really makes me sad? I can not take my stick umbrella with me even though it is going to...

Thank you for suggestions. They are much appreciated. :) 1. As to the hotel question. Yes, in the hotel. 2. As to trenchcoat. I assume if it is raining while the temperature outside is 77-80F it is going to be definitely too hot in a trenchcoat. If it is around 60-62F and raining a trenchcoat...

Lol :) This is what a 'native speaker' means. You, guys, are able to discern minute differences and incoherence in speech I don't even mention. On purpose, I just have googled this phrase. This is what the Cambridge dictionary says, 'Times have changed. The situation is different now from the...

Yes, a messenger bag looks more formal than a backpack. Hence, it is more suitable for a suit yet it is pretty inferior to backpacks in terms of comfort. Actually, messenger bags are not more comfortable than briefcases since many of briefcases also have shoulder straps.

Thank you, Fading Fast, for the thorough reply! On top of that, your reply had a flawless grammar and punctuation, which is a nice thing to see in the era of internet. As for my brogues, they are going to be tan.

    Suit + backpack

In Moscow, I sometimes see people who wear business suits with backpacks. Back in the day I thought it looked ridiculous. Now I still think it looks weird yet I consider the similar combination myself. I’m not going to wear a suit with a backpack since it is still a taboo in my book but...

    Tailoring a knitwear

Hi, I have a piece of woolen knitwear (sweater, to be exact). It sits well in the shoulders and chest yet it is wide in the waist area. Can tailors tailor woolen knitwear? It is no problem when it somes to cotton shirts but woolen sweater. Is it possible? If yes, how?

    Shoes for jeans and t-shirt

2all I can't wear driving shoes or deck shoes since they require socks. If you ask me why I need socks I'm going to tell you that I wear this outfit not only in streets but to my office too. It is okay to wear jeans in here but legs without socks is too much. Besides, legs tend to get...

I already have a pair of tan casual brogues. I agree it fits well with jeans and t-shirt and yet this time I'm thinking of something more casual like sneakers.
