I can't sign off here without praising 'Intrepid' -
Both as the troll 'Russell Street' & the troll 'Chet' I found him to be a fascinating man to 'engage' with.
Russell & Chet were both obviously 'creations' along with various others (Bronco B.R., et al) -
Intrepid's final analysis of...
Go on Rich - Mention the ultimate happy English marriage - Mr. & Mrs. Harold Nicholson! I wouldn't dare. :)
If I could scan it I'd share my Grandfather's cartoon "Sackville-West goes East" with you.
David
Random thoughts while my medication kicks in -
Fogey women read a lot & are a bit horsey. Or at least they used to be.
Very sporting girls - No-nonsense, down to earth, great organisers - They keep they Fogey world ticking over.
Very practical girls, nothing ever too fanciful about them...
Oh show me a Gal who wears heavy brown brogues,
with her hair in a bob and some length to her nose,
and I'll show you a lass who's on fire 'neath her clothes -
Hurrah! for the Fogey Ladies!
Off for a little light medication now -
Toodle-pip,
Dear Harris -
In the same way that my grandmother used to talk about people being "One of nature's gentlemen", I think, with great respect, that you must have been born one of nature's fogeys, Sir. :)
I doubt that I could tempt you to do anything, but the missing part of our exploration...
We could probably break this down, just for fun -
Preppy = The Prep school years (Duh! as youngsters might say! :))
Ivy = Those college years.
Mainstream Trad = Young executive (in whatever field).
Fogey = Glorious full-tilt Trad-to-the-Max at whatever age that kicks in...
And with all due respect - God save Harris too!
No Trad forum without him.
Under the Trad umbrella I think Fogey is Ivy's big brother, with Preppy the young scamp who runs around us all. :)
D.
Exploring Fogey & Preppy has been fun...
Looking at 'GTH Clothing' and the 'Boston Cracked-Shoe look' has been really enjoyable also...
Anyone else missing Trad?
Anyone else wanting more 'Ivy' style?
So this thread is Back to Basics -
To all the names we know & love,
to all the core...
I'm late saying welcome, but I want to say it anyway!
I think it's wonderful that so many new recruits are coming forward, so Welcome to the Club, Bronco BR!
There are no 'dumb' questions - It's only dumb not to ask a question. Don't be daunted by anything or anyone here - you will always...
Good Lad Doug, but I must get back to bed before my stitches burst!
Young Vettriano should talk with you if he isn't in bed already -
You really do know your stuff.
Lord I feel odd! :)
I'm very happy about the way this has turned out.
'misterman' probably doesn't need a new Uncle, but we should recognise his largeness of spirit here. He's a good lad.
What else was there? 'Jumpers'/'Sweaters'? Also 'pull-overs' & 'jerseys 'too! All knitwear in England...
Look at this - Dead on my feet & still posting!
I'm going nowhere for a while, so slippers are much on my mind -
I like LL Bean's all leather double sole classics.
For the more Fogey or Anglo how about Tricker's velvet slippers with embriodered toe and red quilted satin lining?
What...
I'm sitting here waititng for my taxi and I'm being cheeked by Vettriano once again! :)
Pray that I live Vettriano - You wouldn't want the ghostly shade of Uncle Russell bothering you in the middle of the night! :D
D.
Let's draw a line.
'Misterman' is whoever he/she wants to be.
We don't need to know the truth about everything.
I enjoy posts from [u]everyone</u> here, including Misterman.
If the forum has room for me as well as Harris, Intrepid, Brownshoe and all the others who make such a great...
