Did people actually wear Chuck Taylors as casual shoes in the 50s and 60s?

Lots of powerlifters wear them because they are low and flat for squatting as well.

The Official AAAT Music Thread: What Are You Listening To?

Motorhead lately. Brought on by watching the great documentary Lemmy recently. It has a cool section where they talk to his bootmaker and show him cutting the leather, making the designs, forming it over the last. Not most of our cup of tea design-wise but I always like watching a craftsman...

How do you pack your shirts and slacks for travel?

I just hang everything up when I get to the hotel and iron as I wear each item. I do fold my suit jacket shoulder inside out and put the other shoulder inside and then fold it once if I am not taking a suit bag, but that is the extent of special packing techniques.

Companies that rely on quality to sell merchandise.

I disagree, some companies realize that there is a market that isn't particular about quality and values price above all else. Quality for these products would naturally fall lower on the priority list than a company designing for a more discerning market.

Order of events for new shoes buyer

I have Cliftons in walnut and they are my favorite pair of shoes I own. I wear them with wool gabs as well as pressed and creased khakis. I bought a pair in brown from Nordstrom and unfortunately they don't fit anywhere near the same. I have been in touch with AE customer service and both are...

Whats everyone reading now and/or read lately

The Plantagenets by Dan Jones Keep It Simple by Hartmut Esslinger Ever since I started riding the bus to work I get so much reading done, it's a luxury (and necessity) that I hadn't had as much time to indulge in since my first child was born.

Buying my first blazer, need advice

I just got a MTM navy blazer made and IMO sticking with the basics is going to make it very versatile. Stay away from extremes that are trendy now such as very short lengths, REALLY tight fits (you can still have a trim jacket that will be timeless), and REALLY skinny lapels. A basic...

    Lands End Quality?

I buy a lot of button down shirts from them because they have talls in slim fit and I am 6'3" 170 lbs. I also have some chinos and cords from them. The sweaters are hit or miss as the sizing changes over time. The last large talls I bought were huge in the body, but sweaters I have purchased...

    Olympskis

Both men's and women's hockey gets me into it, plus bobsledding, luge and downhill type skiing. Don't like the snowboard or trick skiing and may watch figure skating if the rest of the family is.
