    It's TWEED Season!

Yes I am not prepared for it but I am starting to prepare for 500 dollar electricity bills this summer because my wife refuses to turn down the A/C. I knew I was in trouble when she turned it on in December.

    It's TWEED Season!

Full year resident up near Destin. As a former Minnesotan 70 degree winter days are offensive.

    It's TWEED Season!

Now that I am living in Florida I have about 2 days a year where it is appropriate but I still want more tweed. Thank you for all the inspiration.

Flannel suit: too hot for the South?

I was looking at flannel for a new suit. Not all flannel is lightweight but fox brothers makes some really nice lightweight flannel(technically it is a worsted but has a flannel feel).

    The Eames Lounge Chair

Add in a great scotch or negroni and I could not agree more.

    The Eames Lounge Chair

Yes I got the larger version and it is delightfully comfortable. I think the wife has started to warm to it also.

    The Eames Lounge Chair

I just bit the bullet and bought an eames for my study. I have always loved the look and it will work well in there. I also find it pretty comfortable for a reading chair. Now I just need to find the right side table and lamp. My wife happens to find the chair hideous but as long as it is in...

    Louis Vuitton wallet

I'm not sure what your budget is but look at Fujitaka wallets. I tried to find something less expensive but the craftsmanship was impossible to find in anything less expensive for me. After having it for a year it looks even better than it did when it was new. the stitching is perfect and the...

Interesting pieces from my local tailor

Thanks, to be fair part of the motivation was it was some excess cloth he had so i got a great deal. It was a mild risk cause i wasnt sure how it would turn out and i think it turned out basically perfect.

The best tailors globally who will use fabric provided to them

I had some vintage tweed I wanted made into a shooting jacket. My tailor was concerned that it wouldnt survive the process of making the jacket. This was 50 year old fabric afterall. Bring the fabric with you so they can ensure there is enough and that the quality is sufficient and I dont...

What's your preferred jacket sleeve button style? (please vote!)

I cant lie my last 3 jackets have waterfall buttons. They have grown on me. I just cant wear what I see 90% of other people wearing I suppose. They are all working cuffs but to be honest I cant remember the last time I unbuttoned them so functionality isnt that important to me.

Tweed Suit and General suit advice for a newcomer

Cloth and fit are all that really matter in a suit. Cheap fabric looks cheap and wears out quickly. The best tailor can make cheap fabric look fine but it never lasts. A bad tailor can ruin the best fabric. Since you find yourself in asia often I would start researching a few tailors and...

Interesting pieces from my local tailor

So here is the first fitting. Not too many tweaks need to be done. When it is done it will have patch pockets, 2 roll 3 buttons, and notch lapel.

Interesting pieces from my local tailor

I've commisioned a grey and black Glen check sport coat with patch pockets. I will take pictures when I get first fitting. I got a sweet deal on the last bit from a bolt of Zegna wool cashmere blend he had sitting around. He even threw in going unlined cause he felt it would be wrong to hide...

    Prince Harry's Uniform Frock Coat

Looking at the hand work on the uniform I am certain they actually lose money on each of those uniforms.

    Prince Harry's Uniform Frock Coat

So I can speak from a US military POV. Enlisted are given a yearly clothing allowance. Officers are given a one time allowance that is to cover your service uniform and you usually get your combat uniforms issued initially and a few sets each deployment, beyond that we pay out of pocket. I...
