New Raincoat

Hello again. I need a new rain coat. My London Fog khaki one is on its last legs after almost 26 years. Lands End has a great khaki coat for $119 but it hits above the knee and, when walking in New York, I need one that is as full length as possible. (I wonder if ordering the tall version would help?)

Jos A Bank has one for around $175 on sale. Is that probably the best bet?

Do they still make the London Fog coats? I looked on the London Fog site and did not see them.

Just be aware that the "tall" version will also have longer sleeves.

The Banks I have is cut very long. By the way, microfiber makes a great raincoat material.

I have the Lands End raincoat and really like it; however, it is rather short. If I knew I was going to be out in heavy rain for any significant period of time I would wear my longer khaki trench coat instead.

I first ordered the desert khaki but returned it and got the olive one instead. The khaki had just a little too much of a yellowish tint to it for my liking.

Syms or Feline's always have a few racks of decent "imported" raincoats. I own the JAB and don't think its worth $75-$100 "on Sale" more than the $99 Ralph Laurens. YMMV.

Depends on how good of deal you are looking for. I just bought a Sanyo and it is a wonderful coat. Got at 50% of at Sax Fifth Avenue for about $250.

I like the old Made in USA London Fog Maincoats which may be had on eBay from much less than even an LE or JAB would set you back.

should add that my Banks raincoat is, like everthing else from them for the last 10 years and more, dissappointing. but it is long, and microfiber is a good raincoat fabric.

I need a 48 extra long in trench coats so finding a nice one randomly at a thrift store is going to be a problem. I figured I may as well go out and buy a nice one instead. I hope this qualifies as a "nice one". I've spent enough money over the last 2-3 months on revamping my wardrobe that this sale price of $175 is about as high as I can go.

So I guess my question is this, is there any reason (quality, look, or otherwise) that I shouldn't get this coat at this price? I could really use some helpful opinions on this...
