I'm reading this interview on Ivy Style and both in the article and the comments there is reference to the "#menswear era". What was the #menswear era?
It basically refers to the era of the formation of online/media communities focused on classic menswear. AAAC kind of arose from the same broth.
A few years ago, people were deriding "i-gents", and that kind of signals the point at which the #menswear era "died", ie. too many people found it, didn't "get it" (based on the opinion of self-appointed gatekeepers), and mindlessly applied rules rather than developing style.
An old argument.
It's akin to cool people lamenting their favorite dive jazz bar getting "discovered" by trollish suburbanites, and "well, everyone knows about it now, so it's no longer cool."
