Loss of the Majority of My Clothes

I harbored this very same fantasy for 5 or 6 years until late 2004, when private practice finally gave me the ability to take a good whack at O'Connell's. With the exception of shirts inevitably wearing out and one suit that never fit quite to my liking (even before my "slight" weight gain...

Is O’Connell Lucas Chelf same as the famous O’Connell’s?

Indeed it's the same and I'm proud to have shopped there when the sign out front still bore all three names. Then again, the label in the Hilton sportcoat I bought from them last month does too . . .

Unfortunately my photographer is out of town for a few days, so this is the best I can do on short notice.

    Brooks Brothers camel hair sportcoat

I have both seen and tried them, and although I had already acquired the Brooks item in question I would not have hesitated to snag another from O'Connell's. However, as it happens they didn't have anything that fit quite right in my size. Based on the web listing I'd been lusting after the tan...

    Brooks Brothers camel hair sportcoat

There's minor evidence of the original creasing on my sleeves after tailoring but I was able to eliminate some of it with a clothing brush. If need be I believe it could be steamed out.

Thanks for posting. The eBay listing for my coat depicted a similar example with leather buttons, but only three per sleeve. I strongly prefer the horn buttons personally.

No big deal either way, but I was thinking in terms of a screenshot.

Ultimately this is no laughing matter but I love your choice of words!

Thanks so much for your kind words. I really couldn't see a downside for the price, especially given the full Trad features it offers--right down to the rear lap seam, top stitching, et cetera.

A Trad "What are you Wearing"

I purchased this beautiful Samuelsohn sportcoat from O'Connell's sight unseen during a sale they had around 2005-2006. It typically gets 2-3 wearing per season. Amazingly, there were still one or two examples on the rack when I was there last weekend! I do love the heavier fabrics but I must...

A Trad "What are you Wearing"

With a rapidly expanding collection of fall/winter sportcoats I'm the wrong guy to ask for advice on what's practical in the South. 😜 That said, the Harris Tweeds O'Connell's stock are like horse blankets. Personally I'm not sure I can go heavier than the typical camel hair coat, but I'd say if...

I had the opportunity to observe a number of these in person last Saturday and the fabrics are HEAVY. For this reason I didn't try any of them on, but I find Southwick coats to be trim in general.
