Casual funeral?
Very funny! It is interesting how much more common one sees black suits in other countries - Europe and Asia. The history of clothing in Korea is very interesting - class based as well as activity based. For work, a lot of the common workers traditionally wore white. Actually I was at a funeral and wearing a black suit and started talking to one of my Korean colleagues about black clothing. I mentioned how common it seems for Kim Jung-on to wear black (his Mao suit). He is the one who corrected me.

So although this is what we normally see:

Actually this is the ancient traditional garb:

Actually, the "Mao suit" antedates the ascendancy of the Great Helmsman. It was Sun-Yat-Sen who introduced that style of dress.

I am baffled to think of any occasion when I might wear a black corduroy suit. For that matter, about the only occasion when I might wish to wear a black suit would be a Mob funeral, but then I don't hobnob with such people...at lest not wittingly, anyway.
