The England manager for the World Cup, Gareth Southgate, is wont to wear waistcoats on the touchline during a match. (They are part of the official England suit, but he has been wearing them for a while.) England's unexpectedly good showing has resulted in a greater interest in waistcoats.

    Epic. I love it.

I have been rocking the waistcoat for years, but I wear mine with a jacket so I won't be confused for the wait staff...or the England footie coach.

Well, I take off my coat when driving so I can be seen in waistcoat and tie while on the road but once at my destination, I'm with you.

Sorry, but I am less sanguine.

    All for wearing waistcoats/vests, but . . . . .

only if you're going to wear proper trousers with them. The clinging hip-huggers that have come to dominate British and American tailoring are an abomination, but are made truly ludicrous by the addition of a waistcoat.

I used to wear one a lot, then I got lazy putting on a tie, plus the weather here is not conducive for another layer.

Tweed and waistcoats pretty much defines my Fall/Winter wardrobe.
