I’m getting a suit tailored this weekend, and the sleeves are a big big on me.

When tapering the sleeves on your suit, is it better to have it done from the elbow down, or the entire sleeve?

If you wear mostly barrel cuffs, but might also wear French cuffs, how much of an opening would you want to have?

Also, if you have the sleeves tapered should you have your trousers tapered as well?

It depends. Are the trouser legs a big big, too?

I would say no. It’s a standard 8” opening, Regent Fit suit.

I've only ever had the entire sleeve narrowed.

Did you have to have the sleeve pitch fixed or did it turn out alright?

I don't believe my tailor altered the sleeve pitch on any of jackets I've had done. I've had the sleeves narrowed on three jackets; the pitch on two came out fine, but the pitch on the third would probably benefit from being redone. I haven't found it noticeable enough to go out of my way to have it redone, though.
